Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
rTMS treatment is a non-invasive treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. ANTARA Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre has introduced this rTMS procedure as an additional treatment system in keeping with the development of mental health care science.
What is repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)?
rTMS is an effective non-invasive treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. In addition, it is being actively investigated in other areas, such as Alzheimer’s and acquired brain injury. The procedure involves putting a magnetic pulsing field on a specific area of the brain every day for a few weeks.
Who should consider rTMS?
rTMS can be administered to a suitable patient in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
How is the rTMS procedure performed?
The patient will be comfortably sitting or leaning back in an adjustable chair (similar to a dental/recliner chair). The probe is placed on the patient’s head and magnetic stimulation is given according to the protocol and the requirements of the specific patient.
How does an rTMS treatment help?
rTMS treatment improves attention, memory, and executive functioning such as decision making and reasoning. It decreases anxiety, obsessions, improves mood and reduces auditory hallucinations.
