Awareness Session on ‘Prevention of suicide & Mental Health First Aid’

Port Canning is one of the entry points to the vast Sundarban Area in West Bengal. The area has a string of islands. People staying on these islands have to travel all the way to Kolkata City to access mental health services. ANTARA runs a Satellite Clinic at Canning Town at a space provided by St. Gabriel’s School of CNI Church. This Clinic is a great source of relief to hundreds of persons from the islands. As part of the Mental Health Month Programmes, an Awareness Session on ‘Prevention of suicide & Mental Health First Aid’ was held on Saturday, 26th October 2019.

Rev. Shyamal Pramanik was the Chief Guest.

Dr. Payel Roy – Psychiatrist, Mr. Asim Ghosh – Social Worker and Mrs. Molly Jayanth – OPD Incharge, interacted with the patients & Caregivers giving them tips on how to look after their mental health and how to promote the same in their community.
