Community Mental Health Unit (CMHU) | Antara Psychiatric Hospital
Location: Barasat, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, with travel to Antara as required

Are you passionate about community work and mental health? Join our Community Mental Health Unit and help bring mental healthcare to the doorstep of people who need it most.

What you will do

•  Organise mental health awareness programmes in villages, schools and for adolescents
• Run identification camps and facilitate group counselling sessions
• Help form village-based peer support groups
• Conduct group activities at old age homes, including dementia awareness
• Support smooth running of satellite clinics on clinic days
• Network with Panchayats, BDO/SDO, SI and CDPO offices, BPHCs, sub-centres, CSCs, NGOs and local clubs
• Conduct home visits, follow up dropout cases and make follow-up calls to keep clients in care
• Help clients obtain Aadhaar and other essential documents to access welfare schemes
• Support APPI Project patient intake and post-discharge follow-up
• Conduct ward group activities at Antara and submit weekly reports and monthly work plans

Who we are looking for

• Qualification: MSW (Master of Social Work), preferably with specialisation in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
• Experience: 1–2 years in community mobilisation; freshers may apply
• Basic knowledge of mental health and community work
• Strong communication, public speaking and group facilitation skills
• Familiarity with local government offices and welfare schemes
• Willingness to work in rural areas and travel regularly
• Good documentation and reporting skills
• Sensitivity towards vulnerable people, including older adults
• Fluency in Bengali; working knowledge of English
